KARACHI: An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was among six people, including a minor boy, were gunned down in separate areas during the past two days; 18 were reported to have been injured.
Thirty-year-old Shahzeb Ghori and his younger brother Tahir Ghori, 25, were injured when unidentified men shot at them while they were sitting at a roadside hotel in Liaquatbad No. 3, near Madina Masjid.
They were rushed to the Liaquat National Hospital where Shahzeb died during treatment.
According to officials of the Super Market police station, the deceased was the joint sector in-charge of MQM’s Unit 166; empty bullet casings of a 9mm pistol were also seized by them.
A police constable, Shahbaz Bhatti, 45, was injured after being hit by a stray bullet while he performing his duty at a market in Hassan Square. He was taken to the LNH where he did during treatment. He was posted at the Aziz Bhatti police station.
Sixty-five-year-old Izat Yar died after he was hit by a stray bullet near Gulshan-e-Ghazi, in Baldia Town.
Khuda Bukhsh, 55, was injured after he was shot at by unidentified people near Gulshan-e-Iqbal situated in block 13/D-1 in Gulshan-e-Iqbal police limits, while he was in his car, bearing number ABJ-2588, along with his friend Saleem.
He was rushed to the LNH in a critical condition where he died during treatment; his body was later shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
Two-year-old Eshan, son of Javed, died after he was hit by a stray bullet while he was playing outside his residence located within the jurisdiction of the Quaidabad police station.
Barkatullah, 20, was killed by a stray bullet while he was sitting outside his house in Pirabad. At least 18 others were reportedly injured in incidents of firing during the three days of Eid.
