Out of sight but not out of mind: Nokia 3310 to be relaunched?

ESPOO: (Web Desk) If reports are to be believed, then Finnish company Nokia is planning to relaunch the 3310 handset once again to the market, owing to the phone’s popularity among consumers even till this day.

Nokia 3310 was one of the most popular mobile phones during its time. So much so that the phone generated sales of 126 million around the globe when it made its entry first into the market in 2000. Gradually, a plethora of smartphones rendered the handset outdated as consumers turned to cellphones which had other features and applications which 3310 did not have.

However, consumers still to this day, miss Nokia 3310. The phone, known for its long battery usage and toughness, still has a fan following around the globe. So much so that the internet is flooded with memes of 3310, depicting it as a device which can survive apocalypses and be rendered fit to use, even in the face of natural calamities. Nokia may have noticed this as according to the regularly accurate leaker Evan Blass, a revised 3310 will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of the month.

Styled as a “homage”, the phone will be sold at €59 (£50), it is a steal compared with the original (£119 in 2000). Snake II was one of the most popular games at the time the phone was launched in 2000, 17 years ago and may contribute to the phone’s sales f Nokia does decide to launch it again.

However, one thing is for certain. The saying, “Out of sight, out of mind” does not apply to Nokia 3310.
